Short answer: the FD-1 is Finnmark’s 1-person full spectrum cabin, 38” square, for $4,695 at Select Saunas. It plugs into a 120V/15A outlet and reaches 170°F. It draws 1,750W, so put it on a circuit with nothing else running.
Size
Outside, 38” x 38” x 78”. Inside, 34” x 32” x 70”, or 44.1 cubic feet. One person sits upright. It weighs 301 lbs.
The circuit
The listing is precise: 120V, 1,750W, 15A, single phase, NEMA 5-15P plug. Here’s what the spec sheet won’t tell you. 1,750W at 120V is about 14.6A, our arithmetic. That is close to the full 15A, and above the 80% of a circuit (12A) usually advised for a load that runs for long periods.
My rule of thumb: give it a dedicated circuit, and ask an electrician whether a 20A circuit makes sense in your house. Dedicated Circuit vs Standard Outlet explains why.
Heat
Two kinds of heater: Finnmark’s Spectrum Plus short-wave heaters, which the listing says are UL listed, and Spectrum Carbon 360 long-wave panels, plus LED near-infrared ceiling lights. The maximum is 170°F.
The listing makes several health claims. We don’t repeat them; see our infrared vs traditional sauna guide for what is supported.
EMF and certification
The listing links an “EMF Test Log” and an ETL certification. We haven’t reviewed the log, but a linked document is more than most listings offer.
Warranty
Listed only as “Limited Warranty,” with a separate Finnmark warranty document. Read it for the term before you buy.
You get, you give up
You get 170°F from a household plug in a 38” footprint, and a full electrical spec. You give up a second seat and a warranty term on the listing itself.
Bottom line: a strong single-person cabin, once the circuit is sorted. The 2-person Finnmark FD-3 is $6,495.
