Short answer: the Grandview is a wide-body canopy barrel that seats up to 6 and ships with your choice of heater, electric or wood-burning, for $6,358. It is the priciest traditional sauna on this site. It is also one of the few barrels where the heater is in the price.
Which heater should you pick?
The choices are an 8kW, 9kW, or 10.5kW electric heater, or the M3 wood-burning kit. Run the numbers on the circuit each one needs at 240V:
- 8kW: about 33.3A
- 9kW: about 37.5A
- 10.5kW: about 43.8A
The larger the heater, the larger the breaker and cable, and the more your electrician charges. Ask the dealer for the breaker size listed in each heater’s manual, and get the electrical quote before you choose.
The wood-burning kit needs no circuit. It needs a chimney, clearances, dry firewood, and a check of your local burn rules.
Where does it go?
The exterior is 82⅜” wide, 94” deep, and 85⅞” tall, about 54 sq ft. Almost Heaven describes the canopy shape as 1 foot wider than its standard barrel. The interior is 79⅝” x 74¼”. Our data doesn’t state the weight, so ask before you prepare the base.
How fast does it heat?
The maker says it reaches 190-195°F in under an hour. That is the manufacturer’s figure, and it will vary with the heater you choose and the weather.
What does the warranty cover?
The limited lifetime warranty covers manufacturing defects in the cabin. Ask for the heater’s own warranty terms, which depend on the model you pick.
You get, you give up
You get 1⅜” cedar staves, a wider cabin, and a heater in the box. You give up yard space and about $1,170 against the SaunaLife Ergo E7 at $5,190, which ships without a heater.
How it compares
The Redwood Outdoors 6-person barrel includes a 6kW heater for $6,299 but has a 1-year structural warranty. Bottom line: the Grandview’s warranty is the difference. See Barrel Sauna Total Cost.
