Short answer: this Redwood Outdoors barrel seats 4-6 and ships with a 6kW Harvia heater, rocks, backrest, light, and shingles for $6,299. It is the most complete package among our barrels. The weak points are a 1-year structural warranty and stock, since it was sold out when we researched it.
Is 6kW enough for 4-6 people?
The listing offers upgrades to 8kW or 9kW, which tells you 6kW is the entry option. Our data has only exterior dimensions (71” long, 72¾” wide, 76½” tall), so I can’t give you the room volume. If you live in a cold climate or plan to use it in winter, ask the dealer whether they recommend the 8kW upgrade and what it costs.
A 6kW heater draws 25A at 240V. An 8kW heater draws about 33.3A and needs a 40A circuit. Decide on the heater before the electrician sizes the cable, because upgrading later means rewiring.
Where does it go?
The footprint is about 36 sq ft and the weight is 900 lbs. That is lighter than the other barrels whose weight we have, which makes moving the crates easier. The lighting runs on 120V and the heater on 240V, and the listing requires professional installation for the heater circuit.
Run the numbers on the warranty
The structure is covered for 1 year. The Harvia heater has 1 year on the elements and 5 years on other parts. An outdoor wood structure shows its problems over several seasons, and 1 year covers only the first. Inspect it closely on delivery and again before the year ends.
You get, you give up
You get heat-treated Hemlock and every core accessory in the box. You give up warranty length against Almost Heaven’s limited lifetime terms.
How it compares
The Almost Heaven Grandview costs $59 more, includes a heater, and carries a limited lifetime warranty. That is the closer call. The price here comes from Redwood Outdoors, and our button goes to Redwood Outdoors’ product page.
Bottom line: a complete kit with a short warranty. See the Traditional Sauna Buying Guide.
