Some red light panels are sold as the first piece of a bigger system. Others are one panel, bought once.
This article compares the two routes on price. For the rest of the category, see the home wellness equipment buying guide.
Short answer: modular spreads the cost out and lets you grow. It costs more in total. If you already know the coverage you want, one larger panel is cheaper.
What modular means
Joovv’s panels link together. Its site says to “start with a single device and expand over time,” and it sells kits built from its panels. The Joovv Solo 3.0 listing names Duo, Max, Quad, and Elite kits.
The Joovv Mini 3.0 is the smallest way in at $1,099.
The prices
| Setup | Price | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Joovv Mini 3.0 | $1,099 | 15 x 8.75 in., 60 LEDs |
| Joovv Solo 3.0 | $1,699 | Taller vertical panel; size not published on the listing |
| Joovv Duo 3.0 | $3,699 | Joovv’s site, October 8, 2026 |
| MitoPRO 1000+ | $869 | 12 x 24 in., 200 LEDs |
| MitoPRO 1500+ | $1,169 | 12 x 36 in., 300 LEDs |
Joovv and Mito Red Light listings, checked September and October 2026. The Solo’s $1,699 was a promotional price when checked.
Run the numbers
A Duo at $3,699 costs more than three times a single MitoPRO 1500+ at $1,169.
Here’s what the spec sheet won’t tell you: the modular price doesn’t fall as you add panels. The Duo costs more than twice the Solo’s promotional price.
You get an upgrade path and app control with Joovv. You give up the lower total.
What else differs
| Joovv (modular) | Mito (single panel) | |
|---|---|---|
| Wavelengths | 660 and 850nm (Mini) | 630, 660, 830, 850nm |
| Control | Bluetooth app | Remote control |
| Safety testing | Intertek, IEC 60601 (Solo) | ETL certified |
| Warranty | 2 years | 3 years |
Neither brand’s wavelength mix is shown to work better in our sources. Cleveland Clinic says there isn’t enough evidence to support most uses of red light therapy at all.
When modular makes sense
Choose it if you aren’t sure you’ll keep using a panel and want a small first step, and you like the idea of adding to it. The Mini works as a panel by itself.
When one panel makes sense
Choose it if you know the area you want to cover. A 12 x 36 inch panel at $1,169 covers more than the Mini does for $70 more.
My rule of thumb: price the finished system, not the first piece. If the finished system is out of budget, the first piece is all you’re buying.
For how panel area and irradiance compare, the buying guide linked above covers the specs to check.
Bottom line: modular buys flexibility at a higher total. Decide the coverage you want first, then see which route gets you there for less.
