Short answer: The Cold Pod is an 85-gallon soft-sided ice bath with four-layer insulated walls and a full accessory kit, for $119.99. It is the lowest-priced pick in our ice bath comparison. It suits one average-size adult who wants to try cold plunging before spending more.
Is the size as listed?
It is 75 cm across and 75 cm tall, about 30” each way. A cylinder that size holds about 331 liters, so the 320-liter (85-gallon) claim checks out. You sit upright with knees bent and water to your chest or shoulders, depending on your height.
Full, the water weighs about 709 lbs. Six legs hold the wall up. The floor under it still has to be level.
How much ice does it take?
Cooling 85 gallons from 60°F to 50°F takes roughly 44 lbs of ice, before heat leaks in. That is about two 20 lb bags. A smaller tub is cheaper to chill, every session. It is the main reason to start small.
What do the two drains do?
There is a plug and a valve tap. The tap takes the drain hose, so you can run the water to a lawn or floor drain. The plug empties the last few inches. Change the water often, because there is no filter. Cold Plunge Water Maintenance gives a schedule.
Here’s what the spec sheet won’t tell you
Our data shows a 30-day return window and no warranty term. Fill it and use it in the first week so any leak appears in time. Ask the seller what cover applies after 30 days.
You get, you give up
You get an insulated cover, 6 legs, a pump, a drain hose, and a carry bag. You give up power: there is no chiller, and none is mentioned as an option. You also give up the long life of a rigid tub.
How it compares
The Cold Pod XL is 15% wider for $40 more. The Ice Barrel 500 is the rigid alternative at $1,749.99 with a limited lifetime warranty. See how they rank in our ice bath comparison.
