Short answer: the Viking XL is the large version of Nordic Wave’s hot-and-cold plunge: a 160-gallon tank for users over 7 feet tall, at $8,990. It costs $2,000 more than the Premier. Buy it for the size, and get the missing specs in writing first.
What does 160 gallons change?
The water alone weighs about 1,334 lbs (160 gal x 8.34), against about 792 lbs for the 95-gallon Premier. That affects where it can sit. Indoors, have the floor checked. On a deck, ask a builder.
More water also takes longer to cool or heat, and longer to drain and refill. Nordic Wave doesn’t publish the chiller size, so I can’t estimate the time. Ask how long the XL takes to go from 60°F to 40°F.
Here’s what the spec sheet won’t tell you
- Exterior dimensions and empty weight
- Chiller horsepower and amperage
- The warranty for this specific model
The listing says “standard household outlet”. Ask for the nameplate amps and whether it needs a dedicated circuit. Nordic Wave generally lists a 5-year tub warranty and a 1-year chiller warranty on its residential plunges, but this product page doesn’t state it. Confirm that the XL matches.
Measure your gate and doorways against the dimensions once you have them. A 160-gallon tank is a large object to get around a corner.
Do you need the XL?
The Premier is rated for users up to 6 ft 4 in. If you are under that and plunge alone, the extra 65 gallons mostly add weight and running time. If you are taller, or you want room to move, the XL is the one that fits. It also has dual interior steps.

How it compares
The Viking Premier costs $6,990 with the same 35°F to 104°F range. The Renu Therapy Cold Stoic 2.0 is a laydown tub at $9,499 with a 5-year warranty. Our button goes to Nordic Wave’s product page. See Cold Plunge Warranties Compared.
