A cold plunge combines two very different things: a tub that sits there for years and a chiller with a compressor, pump, and electronics. Their warranties often reflect that difference, and the headline number can hide it.

This article compares warranty terms model by model. For the rest of the cold plunge decisions, start with the cold plunge buying guide.

Short answer: find the chiller’s coverage, not just the tub’s. Then check whether labor is included and whether the terms are residential-only.

Warranties side by side

Cold plunge Warranty (per listing)
The Plunge Original 1-year limited
Renu Cold Stoic 2.0 5-year limited, residential use only
Renu Cold Stoic 3.0 5 years on the body; 1 year on the chiller
Renu Vero 5-year limited
Renu Siberian Pro 1 year
Nordic Wave Viking Premier 5 years on the tub; 1 year on the chiller (residential)
Dundalk Polar Cold Plunge 5-year, parts only, excludes labor
Ice Barrel 500 (no chiller) Limited lifetime for material defects
Nurecover Plunge + Chiller 1-year damage warranty; 30-day money-back guarantee

From manufacturer and dealer listings, checked September–October 2026.

What to look for

Tub vs. chiller. Here’s what the spec sheet won’t tell you in the headline: “5-year warranty” can mean the tub only. The Cold Stoic 3.0 and Viking Premier both pair 5 years on the tub with 1 year on the chiller.

Parts vs. labor. A parts-only warranty, like Dundalk’s on the Polar, means you may pay someone to fit the replacement.

Residential vs. commercial. Residential-only terms matter if a gym, studio, or short-term rental will use the tub.

Questions to ask before buying

  1. How long is the chiller covered, separately from the tub?
  2. Does the warranty include labor, or only parts?
  3. Who pays to ship a faulty chiller back?
  4. Is it residential-only?
  5. Do I need to register the product to activate coverage?

My rule of thumb: on a chiller tub, treat the chiller’s warranty as the real warranty, and budget for a repair after it ends.

Run the numbers against price

A longer warranty doesn’t follow a higher price.

Cold plunge Price (per listing) Coverage
Nurecover Plunge + Chiller $699 1 year
Ice Barrel 500 (no chiller) $1,749.99 Limited lifetime, material defects
Dundalk Polar (no chiller) $3,444 5 years, parts only
Nordic Wave Viking Premier $6,990 5 years tub; 1 year chiller
Renu Vero $7,200 5 years
The Plunge Original $8,490 1 year
Renu Cold Stoic 2.0 $9,499 5 years, residential
Renu Cold Stoic 3.0 $11,399 5 years body; 1 year chiller
Renu Siberian Pro $14,099 1 year

Prices and terms from manufacturer and dealer listings, checked September–October 2026.

The most expensive plunge in the table has the same 1-year term as the cheapest. Within one brand, Renu’s $7,200 Vero is listed with 5 years and its $14,099 Siberian Pro with 1. Price tells you nothing here. Read the terms.

Where the listings go quiet

  • The Nordic Wave Viking XL product page doesn’t state a warranty. Nordic Wave generally lists 5 years on the tub and 1 year on the chiller, so ask whether the XL matches.
  • The Vero and Cold Stoic 2.0 listings say 5 years without splitting tub from chiller. Ask whether the chiller is covered for all 5.
  • The Ice Barrel 500’s lifetime term covers material defects. Ask what that leaves out.

A return window isn’t a warranty

Nurecover lists a money-back guarantee alongside its 1-year warranty. Our data shows two different lengths for it, 30 days in one place and 90 in another, so confirm which applies. Either way, a return window covers changing your mind. A warranty covers a fault. Know both dates.

What to keep

Save the order confirmation, the warranty document as it read on the day you bought, and photos of the unit on delivery. If a chiller fails in year two, the terms that apply are the ones you bought under.

For warranties alongside price and ratings, see our cold plunge comparison.

Bottom line: the longest number on the page usually covers the part least likely to fail. Read the chiller line.

Frequently Asked Questions

What warranty should a cold plunge have?

Look at the chiller coverage specifically, since it's the part most likely to fail. Among tubs we've checked, chiller coverage is often 1 year even when the tub itself has 5 years or more.

Do cold plunge warranties cover labor?

Not always. Dundalk's warranty on the Polar Cold Plunge is parts-only and excludes labor. Ask before you buy.

Does using a cold plunge commercially void the warranty?

Several warranties are residential-only, including Renu's Cold Stoic 2.0. Check the terms if a gym, studio, or rental will use the tub.
