Short answer: two silicone molds that make 6 lb of ice in large blocks, frozen in about 12 hours. They let you make some of your ice-bath ice at home. 6 lb is a small share of what a full tub needs, so most people buy several sets or use them to top up.
How many do you need?
Here’s what the spec sheet won’t tell you: a lot. Cooling 94 gallons from 60°F to 50°F takes about 48 lbs of ice, the figure on our Ice Barrel 500 page. That’s 8 batches from one pack, our arithmetic. Smaller tubs and smaller drops need less. How Much Ice for an Ice Bath has the math for other sizes.
Blocks or cubes?
Haldane says its blocks take 7 to 9 hours to melt at 71.6°F room temperature. That’s the maker’s figure for air, not water. Large blocks have less surface area than the same weight of cubes, so they melt more slowly.
What you get
Two reinforced silicone molds. Fill, freeze about 12 hours, peel the sides open, and wash in the dishwasher. The listing makes recovery claims; we don’t repeat them.
Bottom line: useful for topping up, but plan on several packs or a chiller if you plunge daily. Amazon sets the price. Cold Plunge Chiller vs. Ice compares the two.
