Our Take on the Model G4 Garden Series Outdoor Sauna

By

Short answer: the Model G4 is a 6-person outdoor cabin with a full glass front and 1.75” thermally modified spruce walls, priced at $6,990. The heater isn’t included, and the listing doesn’t name one. Size the heater before you order.

What size heater does it need?

The interior is 78” x 78” x 85.2”. Multiply and divide by 1,728 and you get about 300 cubic feet. Harvia rates its 6kW heater for 170 to 300 cubic feet and its 8kW for 250 to 425. So this room is at the very top of the 6kW range.

Glass loses more heat than an insulated wood wall, and this cabin has a full glass front plus a side window. I’d treat 8kW as the starting point and confirm with the dealer. An 8kW heater draws about 33.3A at 240V and needs a 40A circuit. That is a bigger electrical job than a compact cabin.

Where does it go?

The exterior is 97” deep and 81.5” wide, about 55 sq ft. Our data doesn’t state the exterior height or the weight. Ask for both. Assembly is described as a 2-person, 2-day job.

Think about which way the glass faces. A glass front gives you a view out and gives the neighbors a view in. Glass Front vs. Enclosed Sauna covers the trade-off.

What the listing leaves out

  • The recommended heater model and kW
  • Exterior height and weight
  • Warranty terms for this model

You get, you give up

You get two-tier Aspen benches, a lockable door, app-controlled LED lighting, and a layaway option. You give up privacy and some heat retention to the glass.

How it compares

The SaunaLife Model G2 is the 4-person version at $4,990, with a solid front and a smaller heater requirement. Bottom line: the G4 costs $2,000 more for 2 extra seats and the glass. See Sauna Financing and Layaway if you plan to spread payments.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a home sauna cost?

Compact 1-person infrared cabins start under $2,000, while larger family-size cabins and traditional wood-fired units can run $6,000–$8,000 or more.

Do I need an electrician to install a home sauna?

Compact infrared cabins often run on a standard household outlet, but larger infrared cabins and most traditional heaters require a dedicated circuit installed by a licensed electrician.

Indoor or outdoor — which should I choose?

Indoor cabins are faster to install and keep the sauna close to living space; outdoor cabins free up interior square footage but need a weatherproof build and foundation.
