Short answer: the Forssa is a 3-4 person indoor traditional sauna with an 8kW stove built in, priced at $6,999. The stove is powerful for a cabin this size. The cost to watch is the 240V/40A circuit, plus a second 120V circuit for lights and audio.
What does an 8kW stove need?
At 240V, 8kW draws about 33.3A, which is why the listing calls for a dedicated 40A circuit. That is the same size circuit as many electric ranges. If your panel has no room for a 40A double-pole breaker, you may need a subpanel or a service upgrade before the sauna can be connected. Get an electrician to look at the panel before you order.
The controls, lighting, and audio run on a separate 120V/15A circuit. So this sauna needs two electrical connections, not one.
At full power the stove uses 8 kWh per hour. At 18.34 cents per kWh that is about $1.47 per hour as an upper limit. The stove cycles once the room is hot.
Will it fit?
Assembled size is 75” wide, 48” deep, and 78” tall. That is 25 sq ft of floor and 6 ft 6 in of height, so it clears a standard 8 ft ceiling with room for ventilation. Our data doesn’t state the weight or the interior dimensions. Ask for both.
Here’s what the spec sheet won’t tell you
Golden Designs’ site showed 1 customer review when we researched this model. That is below the 20 reviews we need before showing a rating, so we don’t display one. The warranty term isn’t in our data either. Ask the dealer for it.
You get, you give up
You get a Canadian Hemlock exterior, a Red Cedar interior, a tempered-glass door, and the heater in the price. You give up a track record: there is little buyer feedback to check.
How it compares
The Almost Heaven Madison seats 2-3 with a 6kW heater on a 30A circuit for $4,786 and publishes a limited lifetime cabin warranty. Bottom line: pick the Forssa for the fourth seat. Home Sauna Installation Cost covers the wiring budget.
