Short answer: the Cold Stoic 3.0 is a hot-and-cold plunge with a 0.5 HP chiller, dual-stage filtration, and 4 inches of foam, priced at $11,399. It cools to 37°F and heats to 104°F on a 120V/15A circuit. It costs $1,900 more than the 2.0, so be sure you want the heat.
What does the extra $1,900 buy?
Compared with the Cold Stoic 2.0, you get:
- Heating up to 104°F
- A 0.5 HP chiller in place of 0.25 HP
- A lower minimum of 37°F, against 39°F
- Dual-stage filtration with a quick-swap external filter
The tub is the same size: 70” x 33” x 35” outside, with a 40” x 25” x 31” interior tank. That interior works out to about 134 gallons at the brim. The normal fill is 95 gallons.
Will you use the hot mode?
The same 95 gallons has to swing from cold to hot, and that takes hours. You can’t do a cold plunge and a hot soak back to back in one tub. The practical way to use the hot mode is by season: cold in summer, warm in winter. If you only want cold, save the money.
Will your floor hold it?
Filled weight is about 1,155 lbs on roughly 16 sq ft, or about 72 lbs per sq ft before you get in. The listing calls for a level, stable surface and a dedicated 120V/15A circuit.
Run the numbers on the warranty
The body is covered for 5 years and the chiller unit for 1 year. The 2.0 is listed with a 5-year limited warranty. Ask Renu why the chiller term is shorter on the more expensive model, and what a replacement chiller costs.
What to plan for
It ships in 3-5 weeks. The price is Renu Therapy’s own. Our button goes to Renu Therapy’s product page.
How it compares
The Nordic Wave Viking Premier also does 35°F to 104°F for $6,990, in an upright tank. That is about $4,400 less. Bottom line: the 3.0 is for buyers who want to lie down and want Renu’s build. See Hot and Cold Plunge Tubs vs. Cold-Only.
