Our Take on the Vero Cold Plunge

By

Short answer: the Vero is a compact upright plunge with a separate 0.8 HP chiller rated at 58 dB, a 5-year limited warranty, and a $7,200 price. It suits tight spaces and homes with stairs, because the tub and chiller move as two pieces. You sit in it. You don’t lie down.

Will it fit, and can you carry it in?

The tank is 42” x 33” x 39” tall, under 10 sq ft of floor. It weighs 129 lbs empty and 153 lbs with the lid. Two people can carry that upstairs or through a narrow hall, which isn’t true of a 650 lb one-piece tub.

It holds 95 gallons, about 792 lbs of water. So the filled tank is around 945 lbs on a small footprint, close to 100 lbs per sq ft before you get in. Have the floor checked for an upstairs room. The chiller module sits alongside and needs its own space and airflow.

Is 39” tall easy to get into?

That is a high step over the rim. Our data doesn’t mention included steps. Ask Renu, or plan to add a stable step stool with a non-slip top.

How loud is it?

The chiller is rated at 58 dB from 3 feet, about the level of normal conversation. Because the chiller is a separate module, you may be able to place it a little away from where you sit. Ask Renu how long the connecting hoses are.

What does it need electrically?

A dedicated 120V/15A circuit. The temperature range is 37°F to 100°F, but the hot and cold configuration costs more than the cold-only base price shown here. Ask for both prices.

What does the warranty cover?

Five years, limited. Ask whether that includes the chiller for the full term.

You get, you give up

You get touchscreen and Wi-Fi app control, an XL filter with ozone, and one spare filter. You give up the laydown position.

How it compares

The Nordic Wave Viking Premier is also upright, costs $6,990, and includes heating, with a 1-year chiller warranty. Our button goes to Renu Therapy’s product page. See Cold Plunge Chiller Noise.

Frequently Asked Questions

How cold should a cold plunge be?

Most home cold plunge systems are used well below room temperature; check your unit's manual for its supported range and always ease into cold exposure.

Do I need a chiller, or is ice enough?

Ice-based tubs are more affordable and simpler but require manual ice runs; chiller-equipped systems maintain temperature automatically with less day-to-day effort.

Can a cold plunge go outdoors in winter?

Many outdoor-rated units can, but check the manufacturer's freeze-protection guidance for your climate before leaving a plunge outside year-round.
