What will it cost to run?

Electricity is the running cost people forget to price. This estimator turns a rated wattage into a monthly figure. For the reasoning behind it, see our running cost guide.

Monthly running cost estimator

Pick a model with a published wattage, or enter your own. The result is an upper bound: it assumes the heater or chiller draws its full rated power the whole time, and both cycle off once they reach temperature.

How it runs

Per month, at most–

Energy per month–

Per session, at most–

Formula: watts ÷ 1,000 × hours = kWh, then kWh × your price. A month is 52 ÷ 12 weeks. Wattages are from each listing as recorded in our product data. Rate source: U.S. Energy Information Administration, Electric Power Monthly, Table 5.6.A: residential average, June 2026 data.
